A few weeks ago I was approached by the company JORD to see if I'd like to review one of their wood watches. At first I was a little unsure about this. I'd heard of wood watches before and assumed they were just a trendy, impractical accessory. Besides what would a watch made from wood look like, and how could one comfortably wear one?
Upon visiting the JORD website my vision of what a wood watch looked like was completely blown away. These watches are gorgeous, and I immediately accepted this opportunity.
In order to facilitate my review I was allowed to choose my own watch from a few different styles. This turned out to be a difficult decision because these watches are COOL!
Before I get into which watch I chose and the actual review I wanted to talk a bit about JORD watches in general. The company believes sustainability, efficiency and experiential living. Depending upon the style their watches are made from ebony, koa, purpleheart, zebrawood, rosewood, sandalwood, maple or bamboo.
The watches are available for both men and women, and there is quiet a variety between the styles. Some are fun and funky, while others are more elegant and business-like. Most of the watch faces are round, but there are a few that are square as well.
The prices range from $129.00 to $329.00. They watches aren't bulky or heavy at all but are a little on the larger size. You can choose to have it fitted to your wrist like a regular watch, or wear it loose like a bangle bracelet. It all depends upon which watch you choose and your personal style. If you measure your wrist with their handy printable ruler before you order they will adjust it for you ahead of time.
Now onto a bit about the watch I chose! The style name is Sully which is made from Green Sandalwood. It features scratch-resistant mineral glass and runs with a normal watch battery, The wood is hand finished and pretreated with tung oils. Sounds pretty fancy doesn't it?!
The watches come in a really cool wood box with JORD's name and logo carved into it. The top slides off to reveal the watch which is wrapped around a cute little pillow. This entire presentation makes these watches perfect for gift-giving. And with Father's Day on the way I recommend this as a unique gift idea.
