This morning Autumn's class held a "Publishing Party". Each child took a turn sitting in a chair at the front of the room to read out loud their final story of the year, which was turned into an actual book. The words are typed, and then the pictures are drawn by the kids. Then of course their are yummy snacks after :)
I'm so proud of Autumn who is quiet at school, but was brave enough to read her story, which was appropriately titled "Chickens".

So cute!! What a great job she did, especially if she's usually quiet :) Such a great idea for the books too!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea. I am sure the kids all loved it.
ReplyDeleteThe picture is precious!
That deserves an Aww!...well done ;-)
ReplyDeleteThank you!!! I would have NEVER been brave enough to do that, especially at 8!
ReplyDeleteCongrats to her! What a special accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of when I got my first story published. Way To Go!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty little girl she is and so brave. I'm a retired teacher and the number one fear of 99 percent of kids (and adults) is public speaking.
ReplyDeleteLovely picture of Autumn! She looked so confident!
ReplyDeleteThat's really awesome! I wish we had a publishing party when I was a kid, I would have loved that!
ReplyDeleteWell done! Thanks for sharing.

Good for her! I suck at public speaking, so I am happy that she was brave enough to get up there and show her lovely story!
ReplyDeleteShe is adorable. Well done being brave enough to stand up and be heard.
ReplyDeleteGood for her!!! I was quiet in school too and know how difficult that must have been.
ReplyDeleteThat's a wonderful project. I'm glad she had a good experience with it.

Such lovely comments, thank you all! I had to take a public speaking class in college and was AWFUL!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAlso, I remember my "published" book in elementary school was made from cardboard covered in wallpaper lol.
That is so cool! You have reason to be very proud of her! Congrats to you both!
ReplyDeleteThanks Dave :))
ReplyDeleteI love that photo!!! I can see why you are proud! That is AWESOME!!!!!
ReplyDeleteWay to go Autumn! I'm curious. How is the book bound? It looks like it has a hardcover.
ReplyDeleteCue photo! I'm sure her "published book" was awesome! =D
ReplyDeleteShe is such a cutie!
ReplyDeletePaula....I linked up projects instead of pictures....sorry! Can you delete them for me, please?
ReplyDeleteCongratulations to her! She's a very brave & accomplished young lady.
ReplyDeleteThat's such a big step. Yay!!
ReplyDeletei cna see my youngest daughter doing this, we got chickens about six weeks ago and she loves them
ReplyDeleteGreat idea, did she write the story too? It's good for kids to speak in front of class no matter how terrifying, I think we all remember that. (:
ReplyDeleteI love doing this stuff with my students. What a brave girl! You must be proud!
ReplyDeleteWhat an excellent idea! Those kids must have been so proud to show off their hard work like that.
ReplyDeleteFun idea! My daughter would love this :)
ReplyDeleteGood job Autumn!! I know it's tough to stand in front of a bunch of people...especially your friends! Love the idea of a publishing party! Thanks for linking up with The BOAT!
ReplyDeleteWell done, she is so brave lovely :)
ReplyDeleteWay to go to your cutie! Public speaking makes me sick, but if I have something to read instead of having to wing it, I'm much more confident.

What a wonderful idea! I'm so glad your daughter was able to read her story. Good for her! :)
ReplyDeleteYou must be so proud!!!!
ReplyDeleteThat's wonderful that Autumn read her book out loud. What an accomplishment...she may be the next great novelist!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool that their pieces of writing get turned into actual books!
ReplyDeleteAwwww! Maybe if it is ok with the author, you could scan and post a couple pages of her story for next week's WW.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much to all who linked up for WW and/or commented on my photo.
ReplyDeleteIt is very important to be able to build confidence in this way, starting when your young. I think this is a newer thing because many of you mentioned that you didn't do this when you were little, and neither did I.
And maybe I will copy a few pages to post for next weeks WW! Thanks for the idea Kris :))
Good job! Congrats to her
ReplyDeleteVisiting late for WW.
My entry.
Aw well done to her for the book what a great moment to picture :)
