Hope you've all had a wonderful week!
This week in my house we've been having a potty training
war. A stubborn three year old vs. myself equaled a few
tough days, but things seem to finally be on track. Out
of four children this last one has proved to be
the most difficult one to train.
I'm sure many of you are now beyond this stage of life,
but there must be others out there who can commiserate
with me on the difficulty of training a stubborn
child. Although I guess it would be better to
call her spirited. I try to be positive no
matter how stressful things become.
Please help brighten my day by sharing your fun,
summery posts! Or (sigh) back to school posts!
Are you ready to find some new blogs to read? And

Let's party!
Mine are all grown up now but I remember these days well Paula. Thanks for hosting :)
ReplyDeleteHaha you survived! Thanks so much for sharing again this week Claire!
DeleteOh Paula, it's the worst! My first one was horrible to train. The second child was easy peasy. But let me share my trick with the first...when he turned 3 1/2 on November 1, less than 2 months before Christmas, I told him that if he was still wearing diapers at Christmas that Santa would only bring him diapers and wipes and Mommy would get all of the toys as a reward for changing dirty diapers for 3 1/2 years. He was completely potty trained (not even wearing pull ups to bed) by Thanksgiving! And never really had an accident. So perhaps if you have an upcoming gift-giving event, maybe you can try this method! Good luck to you , my friend!

Omgosh Shelbee that worked out perfect for you, and I love that idea! Unfortunately there are no gift-giving events, but I have to say since I wrote this post things have improved rather quickly and (knock on wood) believe we are all set! And I thank the heavens that this is the LAST one I will have to train!!!
DeleteMy 6 are all well past that stage, thankfully! :) I hope your training goes better than it has. :) Thank you for the party.
ReplyDeleteWow you have six! That certainly was a lot of training. My daughter has been actually doing pretty well since I typed this post. For awhile there I didn't know how I was going to survive. Thanks for stopping by and linking up :)
DeleteThank you for hosting Paula. Good luck with that training! xx

Thank you for linking up and for the well wishes! I think everyone's encouraging words are helping :)
DeleteMy kids are long gone but I do remember those potty training days. I remember also that I was thankful that I trained my oldest in the Summer and that we lived far out on a lake so she could run around almost naked and I could catch her quickly to rush her inside to use the potty.
ReplyDeleteNOW, I have a pup I'm working with. She is mostly trained but, again, I'm glad it's Summer so it isn't unpleasant to take her outside and spend time encouraging her to go!
Thanks for the party friend,
Patti
I agree that it's so much easier in the summer. I actually ended up just putting her in underwear and brought her outside all day to play. She ended up loving the underwear and has since caught on pretty fast and today she's doing awesome. After this though I would prefer never to train anyone again...even a dog lol. Thanks so much for the comment and for linking up :)
DeleteI hope you're having a wonderful week, so far!
ReplyDeleteHey, hey Lisa! This week started off awful but has tremendously improved. Thank you for linking up! Happy Weekend :)
DeleteMy heart goes out to you on the potty training wars. My daughter-in-law is about to embark on that with my 3 year old grandson, and I don't envy her a bit. And even worse: I have no words of wisdom other than just to persevere! It's just a hard and trying process, but it does work out -- eventually!
ReplyDeleteMichele it was awful! I hope that your daughter-in-law has a better time than I did. I have to say that no treat or reward I was going to offer my child worked. I finally just broke down and said she was done with diapers and stuck on underwear. I had read about that being a good way to go with a stubborn child, but didn't want the mess. Luckily it worked so well there haven't been any messes. Thanks for linking up..have a great weekend :)
DeleteThanks Paula for your 247th No Rules Weekend Party. Your rule as Potty Trainer of 4. I remember those days with no nostalgia. Hugs.
ReplyDeleteJoy
Thanks Joy!! Luckily my four were pretty far apart from each other. Have a Happy Weekend :)
DeleteOH I remember those days. My spirited child trained himself quickly; thankfully! Based on other battles we have had through the years I could see how that could have been so much worse. My youngest was my hardest to train mostly because, at the time, he just didn't care. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThank you! I guess you never really know what kind of child you have until potty training time lol. I knew mine was stubborn, but this really brought it out. Thanks for linking up! Have a great weekend :)
DeleteThanks for hosting. Have a fabulous week! - Journa, visiting from the team at www.lollyjane.com
ReplyDeleteThanks a bunch Journa for sharing with the party! Have a wonderful weekend :)
DeleteThank you so much Marilyn! Happy Weekend :)
ReplyDeleteI remember when kids that age. I told them that if they learned, they could go to school and it worked.
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting and have a great weekend.
That's the first thing I tried but it didn't work. She told me she didn't want to go to school anyways. Thanks so much for stopping by and sharing! Happy Weekend :)
